Nature's Canvas Visual Arts HPGE Day Program - Gibberagong

In Terms 1 and 2 Year 7 students have been working on a topic 'Connecting to Country' through which they have explored a range of landscape art. Nature's Canvas Day Program provides an engaging, challenging and stimulating visual arts program that extends their classroom learning. This intensive art excursion is offered to 30 students, selected by their teacher for their outstanding engagement and achievement in Visual Arts. The experience recognises their high potential, and will further develop their creativity and artmaking to promote personal growth and passion.

The program provides students with an opportunity to observe, interpret and respond to their immediate environment at Ku-ring-gai National Park, Bobbin Head. Students will learn strategies to explore their immediate experience of the landscape to create preliminary works as departure points for resolved studiobased artworks. The program is run by Gibberagong Education Centre, and lead by a Visual Arts teacher who specialises in outdoor artmaking. A Visual Arts teacher from Turramurra High School will also be in attendance to assist with the day and ensure students are supported and engaged.

Congratulations to all students who have been selected to attend.

We look forward to sharing their work from this program, as well as work from all Creative and Performing Arts classes at our CAPA Showcase in December. Please keep an eye out for details of this which will be shared later in the year.
