A strong start

At Turramurra High School, we are committed to providing every new student with a strong and welcoming start. We understand that beginning in a new school can be both exciting and challenging, so we have a range of support systems in place to help you settle in smoothly:

• Orientation Programs: Before your school journey begins, we offer orientation sessions that introduce you to the school, staff, and your fellow students, helping you feel connected from day one.
• Transition to High School: Our strong partnership with local primary schools and strengthened transition processes will support incoming Year 7 students and parents to confidently navigate the transition to high school.
• Peer Mentoring: New students are paired with experienced student mentors who can guide you through your first weeks, answer questions, and offer support.
• Dedicated Staff Support: Our friendly teachers, counsellors, and support staff are always available to assist with academic, social, or personal concerns.
• Tailored Learning Support: We offer individual learning plans and additional resources to ensure every student can thrive academically.
• Extra-Curricular Opportunities: Getting involved in clubs, sports, and activities is encouraged as a great way to make friends and feel part of the school community.

Year 7 camp

All students will have the chance to participate in a Year 7 camp. Students are encouraged and supported to participate in all activities. The camp provides great experiences for students and it is a wonderful opportunity to build new lifelong friendships with their peers. We cater for additional needs of all students.

Peer support

Senior student peer support leaders will work with Year 7 students in a peer counselling and mediation role from the Orientation Day. This creates the opportunity to set up a support base that develops inclusion and mutual respect.
