School events bring learning to life and help shape our school culture. They help students build confidence, connect with others and celebrate their progress. Events also give families a chance to be involved in school life and share in their child’s achievements.

Netball Trials and Training

Date: 1 and 15 December 2025, 9 - 23 February 2026, 26 February - 26 March 2026

Netball Trials will be held for the Opens (any age students) and Under 15's teams. Successful students will then have a few training sessions in preparation for the 2026 knockout tournaments.

Australian History Competition 2026

Date: 26 May 2026

Australian History Competition for Year 7-10 students run by the History Teachers Association.

The competition will be a 45-minute test held at school in A16 and administered by Ms. Kourdis. This will occur during Period 2 - students will be absent from their usual class that lesson in order to complete the test. Each student will receive a question paper, a source booklet and a computer answer sheet. There will be 50 multiple choice questions graded from easy to challenging and catering to a range of abilities. There will be a variety of questions, with the primary focus on skills and understandings.

The program will provide two separate papers: A Year 7 and 8 paper, broadly based on the Years 7-8 Australian Curriculum and a Year 9 and 10 paper, broadly based on the Years 9-10 Australian Curriculum. Practice exams will be provided to interested students, and support provided to help prepare them in the skills they will need to excel.

Students who are completing the competition should join the Google Classroom which will provide resources to support their historical skills & understanding. The code is: 3vzijghz

School Cross Country

Date: 2 April 2026

The THS School Cross Country Carnival is a school-based sporting event for students who wish to compete. The event provides students with the opportunity to represent THS and qualify for progression to the Ku-Ring-Gai Zone Cross Country Carnival.

2026 Kangarou Sans Frontieres & Australian Mathematics Competition

Date: 26 March and 6 August 2026

Open to all students studying Mathematics in 2026, with a focus on the top two classes from Years 8, 9 and 10 as well as students studying Extension Mathematics at senior level.

Visual Arts Open Studio

Date: Monday afternoons 3-5pm

Visual Arts Open Studio welcomes all students to work on creative arts projects beyond their Visual Arts class times. This additional time is essential for students to refine and develop their artworks to a high standard.

Rationale: High achievement in Visual Arts requires sustained engagement with materials, techniques, and conceptual development. By allowing students access to the Visual Arts classroom, they will be able to:

Build Technique and Skill: Develop effective use of techniques and materials relevant to their chosen medium. Enhance Quality of Work: Improve overall craftsmanship and attention to detail in their finished pieces.

Foster Innovation: Encourage experimentation with new processes and ideas to push creative boundaries.

Gain feedback and expertise: Visual Arts teachers will be available to students to provide guidance, feedback and expertise to support their artmaking.

Date: Wednesday afternoons 3-4pm

Visual Arts HCS Studio welcomes all Year 12 Visual Arts students to work on their body of work beyond regular class times. This additional time is essential for students to refine and develop their artworks to a high standard. Students are strongly encouraged to attend.

THS LEOs event to attend the ANZAC ceremony organised by St Ives Lions

Date: 25 April 2026

ANZAC ceremony is on Sunday 25th April 2026. A ANZAC ceremony is being organised by St Ives Lions Club at the St Ives ANZAC memorial at St Ives. Our THS LEOs have been invited as previous years to attend the event to assist with

the proceedings. This includes:

- Reading of a passage by two students;

- Lowering of the flag;

- Setting up and packing down of chairs, tables etc;

- Handing out flowers etc to the public

In Concert Rehearsal 2026

Date: 9 March and 15 May 2026

Students from the THS Vocal Ensemble will continue preparing for the In Concert Performance with the Arts Unit in a combined schools rehearsal. Students to arrive at Turramurra Station 7:45am for roll marking, (boarding 8:03am train to arrive at the venue by 9am). Students will return to Turramurra Station approx 4:00pm at the conclusion of the event.

Beatles x Funk Concert

Date: Wednesday 1 April 2026 (Concert starts at 5:30pm)

Year 9 and 10 Music students will be performing at Turramurra High School a concert that will showcase what they have been working on this term. There will be a stage rehearsal 3-5:30pm followed by the public concert at 5:30- 6:30pm

Tempest/Hagseed Symposium

Date: Thursday 11 June 2026

Attendance of this excursion will play a monumental role in a students understanding of the Module A and The Tempest/Hagseed and will be a great opportunity for students to expand the scope of their appreciation and understanding of the texts.

NSW Rural Fire Service Secondary Schools Cadet Program

Date: April - June 2026

The NSW RFS Secondary School Cadet Program (SSCP) presents Year 10 students with the opportunity to follow the values and training of the NSW RFS Members during the school year. Students will learn new and valuable skills as they participate in interesting and challenging training.

Responsible Service of Alcohol Training Excursion Term 1 2026

Date: Thursday 2 April 2026

Twenty five students have indicted they would like to undertake the Responsible Service of Alcohol Training course as this will help them with future work opportunities as they transition out of high school and into further study or employment. A one day excursion has been arranged to take the students into CBD College in the city to obtain their RSA certification.

THS LEOs Bake Stall - West Pymble Mall

Date: Saturday 18 April 2026

THS LEOs are conducting a Bake Stall at Phillip Mall in West Pymble on Saturday 18th April 2026. This event will see the LEOs bake items with the help of the THS community and sell them to the members of public visiting the mall. All moneys collected will be donated to the Cancer Council as was agreed to by the THS LEOs.

Marine Immersion Day

Date: Friday 1 May 2026

Selected students have been given the opportunity to attend the Sydney Superyacht Marina for a day of exploring careers on th water. There will be speakers and presentations from marine trades, local marine businesses, ferries and marine transport, shipwight skills, marine engineering, NSW Maritime as well as a tour of the Sydney Boat House.

The immersion day is delivered in partnership with the NSW Department of Education's Regional Industry Education Partnership ( RIEP ) program.

Earth Justice Unity Day, Mana, and Fundraiser - Social Justice Group

Date: Wednesday 29 April 2026

Social Justice Group Earth Justice initiative will feature

- a fundraising Unity Day for a charity associated with environmental justice, to be voted for by THS Staff and Students. The Unity Day colour theme will be blue and/or green.

- a school wide electricity Blackout (eg in classrooms and offices where safe and viable to do so) for a minimum one period

- a fundraising stall to support the school community's chosen charity - iceblocks, Spider drinks, frozen fruit skewers etc

Cake Decorating Session – Year 12 Business Studies

Date: Wednesday 22 April 2026

Students will participate in a hands-on Cake Decorating session, designed not only as a creative activity but also as an opportunity to explore real-world business concepts in action. This session, delivered by CDC, will allow students to step into the shoes of both a product designer and a business owner, linking practical tasks with theoretical topics covered in the Year 12 Business Studies syllabus.
