At Turramurra High School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.
Our programs may include:

Our co-curricular highlights
Leadership and Community Engagement
Students can develop their leadership, communication and teamwork skills through the various programs offered at Turramurra High School. Some the opportunities available include the Student Leadership , Peer Support, THS Leo's Club, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, Social Justice Group and the Rural Fire Cadet Program
Creative and performing arts
Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities.
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
Premier's Debating Challenge
The NSW Premier’s Debating Challenge is a statewide competition that gives students the opportunity to develop and showcase their public speaking, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
Our school enters teams in various divisions, with students receiving guidance and support to prepare for each round. Debates are held against schools throughout NSW, with successful teams progressing through the zone and regional levels to the state finals.
The Premier’s Debating Challenge builds confidence, communication skills, and a strong sense of collaboration—qualities that benefit students well beyond the classroom.
Girls in Engineering
This is a girls only, Year 7-10, annual event. It is for girls who might be interested in engineering or STEM more broadly. The event location rotates between the universities in Sydney Metropolitan, and is attended by 8-10 other schools. The day starts with hearing from a female engineer and her experiences in engineering, followed by a series of practical workshops where students are exposed to different facets of engineering. This event is proudly organised by Engineers Australia.
THS Leo's Club
THS LEOs club is a community service based organisation, sponsored by St Ives Lions Club as part of the Lions International. This club provides opportunities for students from Years 7 to 12 to experience community service, leadership, teamwork, collaboration, and engagement with the public and other community service organisations.
Rural Fire Service Cadet Program
In Year 10, students have the opportunity to become involved in the Rural Fire Service Cadet program here on the THS campus. One afternoon a week for ten weeks, students work closely with volunteers from the RFS.
The cadet program:
- Provides practical life skills
- Develops leadership, teamwork and initiative
- Fosters qualities of community responsibility and service
Duke Of Edinburgh's Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a globally recognised youth development program that empowers students to explore their full potential. Open to students aged 14 and over, the Award encourages participants to set personal goals and take on challenges across four key areas: Physical Recreation, Skill Development, Voluntary Service, and Adventurous Journey.
